"UYRS Grand Prix of Philadelphia - April 30, 2005"

PHILADELPHIA, PA (April 22, 2005) - The Urban Youth Racing School (UYRS) will hold its first Grand Prix of Philadelphia on Ben Franklin Parkway in front of the Art Museum in Center City on Saturday, April 30th 2005 starting at 12 noon. UYRS Driver Performance level students, ages 13-17, will race against each other in karts capable of reaching 90+ mph on Philadelphia city streets. With annual bragging rights and three wild card spots for the East Coast Run-Off of the Red Bull Driver Search at stake, Urban Youth Racing School drivers are positioned to push their racing career to the next level.

The goal of the Red Bull Driver Search program is to find and support young American drivers with the talent to compete in, Formula 1. Drivers selected through the Red Bull Driver Search are awarded a place on the Red Bull Junior Team, where they are developed in a world-class junior series in the U.S and Europe. These young drivers are groomed to break into Formula 1 with the ultimate vision of creating the first ever All-American Formula 1 Team.

UYRS MISSION - The Urban Youth Racing School is dedicated to giving disadvantaged, inner-city youth more opportunity and a chance to enhance their life skills by using motor sports as the magnet and education as the compass. UYRS is committed to making diversity, educational and youth issues a national priority.

Since it's inception in 1998, UYRS has had over 900 children go through their 10 week "Build A Dream" and "Team Development" Programs involving over 40 mentors who have been a part of the school for over 5 years. Additionally, the school has given away over $25,000 in educational scholarships, taken 40 UYRS students to Charlotte, North Carolina to visit NASCAR race teams, and participate in the annual Sears Craftsman/UYRS weeklong internship program.
