Dee Warren wins PowderPuff at Lake Village Motor Speedway

LAKE VILLAGE, IN - The September 13th racing weekend started off with a tribute to 911 as all drivers paraded around the speedway carrying American flags while guest Jennifer Madrigal sang the National Anthem.

An engine protest started off the day for points' leader T.J. Flynn and a secong protest was filed against Brett Schumaker. The Rookie Purple division points leader T.J. Flynn won Heat One over Brett Schumaker and Steve Warren. Heat Two had Mr. Ben Rish leading the first eight laps until Tyler Trainor made his pass to win over Flynn with Rish finishing third. The Rookie Purple Feature was also exciting. The race was led by Flynn, Tyler and Steve Warren in the first three positions respectively when a last lap crash between Brett Schumaker and Steve Warren forced the race to finish under caution. First place went to speedy T.J. Flynn, Tyler Trainor fought hard and picked up second place and Mr. Ben Rish grabbed third. At the end of the day the engines of both T.J. Flynn and Brett Schumaker were completely torn down and both racers were found to be legal.

Rookie Blue also supplied the crowd with an action-packed day. In Heat One Brock Schumaker was on fire the first seven laps but a tangle between Schumaker and Jeremy Nokolich sheered off Schumaker's right front spindle and his kart was done for the day. 'Smokin' Joe Rish drove through the pile-up and took the win. Heat Two's winner was Mike Warren and a smooth pass by Kyle McKinney earned him second over Joe Rish. The Rookie Blue Feature was all Joe Rish as he scored the win over Kyle McKinney in second and Kyle Warren in third.

Once again with an exciting tone was set for the day's Stock Lite races with track favorite Nick Koopers racing in this division as well as Stock Heavy too. Heat One had Jimmy Hansen grabbing the early lead and taking the win, but the battle was between Kathy Tucker and Nick Koopers as Tucker worked on Koopers in front and got around him in Turn One to pick up second place. Koopers was third. Heat Two had Tucker leading the race up to the white flag where hard-charging Jimmy Hansen made a pass on Tucker stick in Turn Seven and grabbed the win. Hansen made a flag-to-flag sweep of the Feature race with Tucker scoring second and Koopers taking third.

Stock Heavy's Heat One saw points' leader Nick Koopers winning against Wayne Frome and Chris Northcutt. In Heat Two Chris Northcutt lead a very tight race and picked up the win. The Feature event saw double-duty driver Nick Koopers winning with Northcutt taking second and Frome third.

The pocket bike racers were back and put on a great show as Brandon Martin, age six, raced with the big boys. These guys put on a great race and everyone is looking forward to their return to Lake Village Motor Speedway in a few weeks. Thanks guys!

A very excited Dee Warren was the winner of the PowderPuff race. A special thanks goes out to Wayne Frome for lending his karts for the trophy presentation. Kristen Koopers finished second and Tina Koopers third.
