America's future Formula 1 hopes placed in the hands of three aspiring championsESTORIL, PORTUGAL (14 October 2003) - An extensive search across the United States karting community and junior racing Formulae over the past six months culminated in the selection of six drivers to travel to Estoril for the 2003 Red Bull Driver Search Final. Situated on a rocky plateau on the coast of Portugal and home to the Portuguese Grand Prix from 1984-1996, the Estoril Circuit was the perfect setting for this important event. The aim, to find American drivers to succeed in Europe and ascend to the ranks of Formula One. The three day assessment comprised of one day of orientation and two days of testing in British F3 cars prepared by Alan Docking Racing. A panel of accomplished judges evaluated and selected the winners. In alphabetical order; Dominique Claessens of Rolling Hills, CA, Colin Fleming of North Hills, CA and Matt Jaskol of Las Vegas, NV. In the coming weeks, the drivers will be analyzed further and the decision will be made regarding their drive for 2004. At such time, their respective series and the 2004 American Red Bull Driver Pool will be announced. The 2003 Red Bull Driver Search program aims to discover and support highly-talented young drivers already in racing, as well as the "diamond in the rough," lacking the knowledge and contacts needed to embark on a career in racing. The long-term goal is to have a steady group of 4 to 6 American drivers racing in Europe, groomed to break into Formula 1 and compete for the World Championship.
