Longtime karter, promoter and supporter of the sport, Hollis Brown, passed away in Alabama on Tuesday, October 7, 2003 from diabetes complications. Brown was involved in karting for most of his life in one way or another and was at one time owner of the Las Vegas Karting Center.

As one of the founders of the "Stars of Tomorrow" program, Brown looked to karting as the feeder system to auto racing along with partner Bryan Herta. After "Stars" was sold, Brown retired and moved from Las Vegas to Alabama. Recently he'd been contemplating getting back into the sport with the help of his good friend Dave Larson of the International Racing Association.

A private family service was held Thursday, October 9 in Alabama. Wife Carol has indicated there may be a memorial service in Las Vegas during the SKUSA Grand Nationals in November. For more information on the memorial service for Hollis please contact Dave Larson at 1-866-489-3283.
