    Adam Carlson wins series championship

    MORRIS, IL - Adam Carlson of Lisle, Illinois won the 2003 Burris Junior Pro Series championship, in the Briggs "Gold " class. Adam was leading by thirty-five points going into the last race of the speedway, oval, pavement kart series. Grundy Co. Speedway in Morris,Illlinois is a one-third mile stock car track, in which there were thirteen races in the series and Adam was only able to run at nine of the races. "We won several heats and feature races at Grundy and were hoping that in this last race a win or good finish would clinch the championship" Adam said. The team ran two karts Sunday bringing in Tommy Jones to run a second kart. Jones is a regular competitor in a "blue plate " Briggs class in another series. "I wanted to give Tommy an opportunity to run in a faster class with a competitive kart " team owner Scott Carlson said.

    Adam found out in the first heat race what a battle the day would be. It seamed like everyone was pulling out all the stops and trying to go for the win, Adam finished third in the tough race." there was a lot banging and rubbing going on from guys that weren't in the points race" Scott said. There were three different winners in each of the day's races. Adam also finished third in the second heat and the feature giving him enough points to win the championship. Tommy Jones brought home a top five finish racing for the team.
