Brian Lockwood Production features 11 cameras, 3 miles of cable and 28-person crew on new track or "Stars" championships

BEAUMONT, CA - One of the elaborate television productions of a North American karting event ever was in place last weekend (Nov. 1-2) at the all-new Moran Raceway in the Stars Karting Championships, the final event on the Snap-on Champ Car Stars of Tomorrow presented by RACER national karting series.

A one-hour highlight show of the Stars Karting Championships will be seen on SPEED CHANNEL on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 4 p.m. (EST) with a replay show on Monday, Dec. 8, at 5 p.m. (EDT).

The Stars Karting Championships television production features eleven cameras including a $100,000 Sony Super Slow-Mo and 20-foot "JIB" camera that will highlight the "Bus Stop" section of the one-mile Moran Raceway. Three in-kart cameras will be connected to drivers in each of the ICC (125cc shifter) and ICA (100cc direct) main events and two low-speed cameras are also part of show. A total of three miles of cable was laid around the new karting facility located 80 miles miles east of Los Angeles.

The one-hour telecast will be produced by Brian Lockwood Productions of Huntington Beach, Calif. and hosted by Leigh Diffey, Tommy Kendall and David Stanfield. Lockwood serves as director and producer of the karting television project with Glenn Holland as the senior writer and associate producer.

"This production should show how exciting and entertaining the Stars of Tomorrow karting series really is," said Lockwood, whose company also has produced Champ Car television on CBS-TV and SPEED CHANNEL and NASCAR telecasts on FOX-TV and SPEED. "With this type of commitment to the production, the Stars Championship show will bring the view right into the action. I think the production will show the dynamic wheel-to-wheel racing that highlights this form of motorsports."

More than 30 hours of videotape will be utilized to record the six classes in the Stars Karting Championships at Moran Raceway.

"Brian Lockwood¹s production crew will capture the drama and excitement of the Stars Karting Championships and show will give the viewers an inside look at the Snap-on Stars of Tomorrow," said Bobby Rahal, a principal in the Stars program. "The new Moran Raceway is a state-of-the-art karting track that will produce some of the best karting action seen in North America. We think the great television action at this track will be sensational."

Founded by racing star Bryan Herta and now owned in conjunction with a group of racing veterans, including three-time CART champion and Indy 500 winner Bobby Rahal, the Stars of Tomorrow serves as the first step for the CART driver development ladder. Stars focuses on recognizing the skills of the drivers rather than the technology development within the machines, using FIA/CIK International standards.
