Karting is "Alive and Growing" at Thunder Hill MENOMONIE, WI - Kart racers from throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota made the trek to Thunder Hill Speedway Saturday May 3rd to compete in the 2003 season opener. Trophies for the event were presented by Red Cedar Speedway of Menomonie, Wisconsin. Showing that the sport of kart racing is alive and growing, 13 young competitors took the green flag in the Novice division Feature Event. It was a close race to the checkers with Dylan Goetll edging Cody Sandberg at the wire. Veteran Casey Stanton swept two divisions by outrunning Jon Peters for the Stock Medium victory and returned in the Stock Heavy to lead Ryan Hanson to the checkered flag. "Karts by Cartmill" seemed to be the hot ticket for the night I caged classes as, Ashley Husby took her #19 mount to victory lane ahead of A. J. Roschen in the new Junior Winged Class, and defending points champ John Cartmill dominated in the Winged Outlaws with Jeremy Fritz second. Corey Kaczorowski grabbed the lead with just three laps to go in the very competitive Junior II Main and drove to the winner's circle ahead of Corey Wolfe. Jake Eslinger was a wire-to-wire victor over Reggie Moe in the Junior Sportsman Feature, Blake Hauser showed the way to victory over Jesse Glenz in the Junior I go, and Justin Supri prevailed over Josh Sedlacek in the caution plagued Stock Light Main Event. Gene Supri had things in control as he cruised to victory ahead of Roger Rislow I the Senior Sportsman Main, and 2002 points champ, Wyatt Wolfe, led Jake Alton to the checkers in Blue Wazoom action.
