Winning Hospice 24 team to receive $10,000 prize packageJACKSON, MI - The winning team of the inaugural HOSPICE 24 on July 19-20 will receive a prize package worth over $10,000 - including VIP hospitality at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Michigan International Speedway race organizers have announced. The HOSPICE 24 is a unique, 24-hour go-kart race to benefit the Great Lakes Hospice Foundation and is part of the RaceWeek Fesitival of Events. Teams or individuals will drive identically prepared high-performance go-karts on the combined oval/road course at Jackson Speedway, one of the newest and best go-kart facilities in the nation. The event will feature close, wheel-to-wheel racing along with the endurance and strategy of a 24-hour race. "Thanks to the generosity of some of our sponsors and supporters, we're able to offer an impressive prize package for the winning team," said Tommy Cameron, executive director of the HOSPICE 24. "The prizes will be consistent with the theme of the event - the opportunity for everybody to have fun while raising money for a great cause!" The prize package includes: Ten (10) NASCAR suite tickets at Michigan International Speedway to watch practice on Friday, August 15, 2003. Food and drink are included. Trophies and other post-race awards will be distributed at the post-race party that is open to all participants and hospitality guests. "Each of the prizes will give the winning team an opportunity to have some fun while racing or watching racing," Cameron said. "We're continuing to look for ways to grow the event and to make the event bigger and better for everybody!" The funds raised from the race will go towards helping the Great Lakes Hospice Foundation build a Hospice House in Mid-Michigan. "There is a level of care for some Hospice patients that does not require an extended hospital stay, but the patient would be better served in a facility outside the patient's home," said William Deary, CEO of Great Lakes Home Health & Hospice. "This event would help establish such a facility that is dedicated to our community." To enter the race or for more information, call 517-788-6541 or go to www.hospice24race.com. |
