Everts pilots Adam Carlson Racing to victory

MORRIS, IL - Adam Carlson Racing went to Grundy Co. Speedway Sunday June 15th without its driver, Adam. Adam was selected by his Boy Scout troop to attend a weeklong Scout leadership camp. Adam is currently a star scout working to achieve scouting's highest rank, Eagle Scout.

With Adam unable to race the team had Jeff Everts drive Adam's kart in the Burris Junior Pro Series race. Jeff is familiar with Adam's team and looked forward to running in the Briggs Gold class since the kart has been working quite well at Grundy.

" We added some weight to compensate for Jeff and were trying a few different chassis settings knowing that he would provide good feedback" owner Scott Carlson said. Jeff only had one practice session in the kart, but was very fast and consistent; he was also running his regular ride in the Briggs Light class with a new engine. The kart was pushing a little so a couple of adjustments were made for the first heat where Jeff would start on the pole. Everts got out in front and won the first heat. In the second heat he would start last, at the start Jeff made a move to the inside going into turn one, but the pack bunched up driving him down to the apron where he half spun, so there was a complete restart. The next start was much better and Jeff patiently worked his way through the field drafting with Zach Axlen and Billy Hulbert, then Hulbert had engine trouble and dropped out of the race. The lead was then taken over by the black number 8 kart and Jeff followed behind him until the last lap, to take the lead and finished first.

Jeff would start on the pole for the feature race, the inside lineup was Jeff, Zach, and Billy. The pre-race plan was to stay together and draft away from the field and it was almost textbook drafting as the three stayed nose to tail and just pulled away from the pack building a sizable lead. As the race went on they then slowly drifted apart and Jeff won by a large margin giving the Adam Carlson Racing team a clean sweep of the three races.

Points only go with the driver unless they start the first heat and then appoint a relief driver so Adam will not benefit from the wins. The team however did learn some valuable information about the kart and gave Jeff Everts a chance to be back in the winner's circle again. Jeff also won all three of his Briggs Light races too, nearly lapping the field in his feature race. The team would like to thank the Everts family for all their help, the Watercolor Group, Premier Performance, and Burris Racing for their continued support.
