"Superkarts USA presents the PROMOTO TOUR at Pat's Acres Racing Complex"

CANBY, OR (July 11, 2003) - This weekend North America's only professional shifter kart series brings extreme kart racing to the Portland area. The Superkarts USA Promoto Tour has awed race fans young and old, with the tightest racing in the world of motorsports for nearly a decade. The last national showdown of the 2003 Superkarts USA West Coast tour will be staged at Pat's Acres July 18-20.

The career path for many major auto-racing superstars began in go-kart racing. These include the Indy Racing League IndyCar Series headliners, Champ Cars and F1 stars like Paul Tracy, Tony Kanaan and AJ Foyt Jr.

"I have raced both the shifter karts and the 4-cycle karts," said Foyt. "Kart racing has helped me in my IndyCar career because you have to be super smooth in both types of cars. In karts, you can bind the motor up real easy so you have to be super smooth on the steering wheel and in IndyCars, you have to be smooth so you don't scrub off any speed."

The kart event will be staged at the newly revised Pat's Acres sprint track. A 0.9-mile "sprint" course featuring 13 turns and near 90 mph straight. A field of more than 100 of the nation's best shifter kart pilots ranging from 12 to 60 years old will be on hand. Generous prize packages ($15,000+ in total) are up for grabs in every class on track and are sure to heat up the competition.

Practice will be held Friday, June 6 with racing the next two days. Tickets are available at the gate at $7 per adult; pit passes are available at extra charge. For ticket and other information contact Pat's Acres at (503) 266 7287 or SKUSA at (614) 760-9540 or visit the organization's website, www.skusaonline.com.
