Shockwave Karting presents Colorado Sprint Championship
ENGLEWOOD, CO - The Shockwave Karting Colorado Sprint Championships is pleased to announce the second annual Steamboat Springs Grand Prix will be held September 13th and 14th as the final round of the series.
Steamboat Springs is one of Colorado's most legendary ski towns, and is very popular during the spring, summer, and fall months as well. Located in Northern Colorado, Steamboat is nestled underneath beautiful mountains that have long been a favorite for outdoor enthusiasts, featuring spectacular hiking, biking, climbing, and ATV terrain. In addition, Steamboat has a long history in motorsports, featuring events such as vintage auto racing, concours d'elegance, and superbike competitions. Now, karting joins this long history.
The Steamboat Springs Grand Prix will be held in the main skier parking lot off Mt. Werner Road, the primary and heavily-traveled route between the ski area base and downtown Steamboat Springs. The course is an exciting temporary layout approximately .7 miles long with 12-14 turns. The layout will feature many improvements over last year's Grand Prix, as organizers are removing bumps from the parking lot and working hard to better organize the pit and grid areas.
The event will feature Colorado's finest talent, including several top-rated SKUSA SuperPro, Formula S1, and Super G drivers in the Pro 125cc Shifter division and many superb pilots in the Senior/Heavy 125cc Shifter and 80cc Junior Shifter classes, including the McGrath Motorsports, Team Fury, and Shockwave Karting factory teams. In addition, organizers expect several out-of-state teams to attend with their drivers, deepening the pool of talent. A total of twelve classes will be run: Pro 125cc Shifter, Senior/Heavy 125cc Shifter, Novice 125cc Shifter, 80cc Junior, 60cc Novice, TaG Senior, TaG Junior, 4-cycle Senior Modified, 4-cycle Senior Stock, Junior I, Junior II, and Kid Karts.
The organizers are pleased to announce that there will be a cash purse for the Pro125 class and the TaG senior class.
