MacLean Quality Composites releases high-quality, customizable carbon fiber plates

WEST JORDAN, UT - After much testing, MacLean Quality Composites (MQC) has developed a process that allows the manufacture of ultra high quality carbon fiber panels. RacePlates are now available in several sizes and two different thicknesses, Rigid and Flex, designed with the tuner car market in mind. The Rigid plates are .055" thick and can be cut to shape with a Dremel tool, making them perfect for custom applications. The Flex plates are made from a single ply of carbon fabric that can be cut with scissors, curved, and attached to any surface using double-sided tape RacePlates allow car owners to make unique carbon fiber components that do not exist in the market today. Examples include custom gauge panels, interior trim, inner door panels, under hood trim, and exterior wings. Plates can also be assembled into enclosures such as speaker boxes, using the RacePlates line of carbon angle stock. These plates are a great benefit for those individuals who own a vehicle that does not have a large after-market supplier base, or for that individual who wants a unique vehicle that stands out in a crowd.

Up until now, the majority of the carbon fiber products in the tuner market have been of low quality. "I have been to the car shows and seen, first hand, the poor surface finish on many of the carbon fiber parts," says Adam Weeks, Product Line Specialist for MQC. "From the beginning we wanted to make sure our focus was on quality, and I believe we have succeeded in doing that. Our quality is unmatched! The reason is simple. We use the highest quality materials, and we have the right equipment." RacePlates are made from aerospace quality prepreg carbon and laid up using proprietary tooling. These plates are then cured in a large autoclave under enormous pressure, vacuum, and high heat. This makes a carbon fiber plate that is lightweight, and stiff with a low occurrence of surface defects. MQC does not need to use clear coat paint on the plates, because they come out of the mold nearly perfect. RacePlates feature a deep-looking, glossy twill surface on both sides. The inner plies are designed with unidirectional carbon, making these plates strong, as well as beautiful.
