    Karting family suffers great loss

    ANTIOCH, IL - The Midwest karting community was dealt a terrible blow with the recent loss of three members of one family. The Robert C. Brannam Family of Mountain Home, Arkansas was involved in a head-on collision Saturday, July 12, 2003 when a 1989 Ford van crossed the center line of U.S. 62 in Marion County, Arkansas and after sideswiping a westbound 1986 Toyota pickup towing a trailer it then collided head-on with the Brannamıs westbound 1998 Ford van.

    The accident at 11:10 a.m. was about one mile east of Yellville Arkansas and blocked traffic across north-central Akansas for about four hours. "It was the most centered head-on collision I've ever seen," said trooper and investigating-officer Matthew Sheley. "It was complete headlight to headlight. The front ends of both vehicles were completely flat."

    Killed in the crash were Robert S. Brannam, 40, Joseph C. Brannam, 10, and Robert S. Brannam Jr, 8. The driver of the eastbound van Darren Williams Sr., 38, was also killed in the accident. Wife and mother Linda Brannam, 40, was seriously injured and was listed in critical condition at Baxter Regional Medical Center. The driver of the 1986 Toyota, Todd L. Mott, 42, of Flippin, AR, was treated and released at Baxter Regional Medical Center.

    New members of Badger Kart Club of Wisconsin, the Brannam family also competed with the Championship Enduro Series and the Burris Circle Tour. Joseph ran a few CES Novice races and competed in Yamaha Jr. with the Burris Circle Tour.

    Joseph c. Brannam, 10, of Mountain Home, AR died Saturday, July 12, 2003 at North Arkansas Medical Center at Harrison, AR. He attended Grace Baptist Church in Gassville and was a member of the Royal Rangers at Assembly of God Church. He was a student at Guy Berry Intermediate School at Mountain Home, AR.

    He is survived by his mother, Linda Brannam of Mountain Home: a brother, Brian Hernandez of Crystal Lake, IL; and grandparents Joe and Rose Salerno of Arizona and William and Patty Brannam of Mountain Home.


    Robert Scott Brannam Jr., 8
    Robert Scott Brannam Jr., 8, of Mountain Home, AR died Saturday, July 12, 2003 at Marion County, AR. He attended Grace Baptist Church in Gassville and was a member of the Royal Rangers at Assembly of God Church. He was a student at Nelson-Wilks-Herron Elementary School.

    He is survived by his mother, Linda Brannam of Mountain Home: a brother, Brian Hernandez of Crystal Lake, IL; and grandparents Joe and Rose Salerno of Arizona and William and Patty Brannam of Mountain Home.

    Robert Scott Brannam, 40, of Mountain Home, AR died Saturday, July 12, 2003 at Marion County, AR. He was a truck driver and worked for Guy King & Sons. He was born March 22, 1963 to parents William and Patty Brannam in Woodstock, IL.

    Survivors include his wife Linda Brannam of Mountain Home, AR; parents William and Patty Brannam of Mountain Home, AR; one brother, Thomas Brannam and wife, Susan, of Lake in the Hills, IL; and one aunt, Sue Cheek of Gassville, AR.
