UPDATE on CIK Bodywork Homologation for 2003DUBLIN, OH - Having an opportunity to delve deeper into the bodywork subject by speaking to representatives of WKA, STARS, importers and other key people in the industry, many new facts have surfaced on the topic. The bodywork is only a part of a much larger CIK Chassis homologation program. Aside from the three year cycling of CIK homologation programs, additional effort is being made for clarification of this subject. Randy Kugler of the WKA and a member of the CIK Sporting Regulations Committee, will be attending CIK meetings in Paris in a few weeks where this clarification will be sought. As a direct result of the aforementioned conversations, SKUSA will accept, effective immediately, the currently approved CIK homologation with the following provision. Mr. Kugler has committed to share all relevant information as a result of his CIK meetings with SKUSA and will convene a meeting of the WKA Competition Committee (WKACC) on this topic in March. One specific objective of the WKACC meeting will be to finalize WKA's position on the new chassis homologation. In cooperation between SKUSA and WKA, SKUSA will finalize any provisions on this topic as a result of this effort and post the results prior to April 1, 2003. "It is my hope that in all rules generating organizations will work together, where ever appropriate and applicable, on issues of common interest. Such collaboration should be the administered to by an impartial "third party" industry group. If there ever was a case for a dynamic, functioning, industry association, or group, in addressing such issues and changes, far enough in advance to provide salient information to all such rules generating bodies within our sport, this is it!" stated Jim Murley.
