Gidley and LaPoint launch Rocket FactorySPARKS, NV - Memo Gidley and Jason LaPoint announced today the opening of Rocket Factory LLC, a retail store that will sell ATV and Kart parts and accessories along with being the official Trackmagic Kart dealer in the Reno/Sparks area. Rocket Factory will also have a full service department, utilizing a shop-based and portable Dyno-Jet dyno to fine-tune customer's vehicles. The location of the Rocket Factory was determined by the huge amount of recreational ATV activity in the Nevada area and also the untapped local karting market. Rocket Factory is less than 15 minutes from the Northern Nevada Karting facility and only minutes from local off road ATV riding areas. Although most well known for his success in Indy Car and Karting, Memo actually began his career racing off road motorcycles for 12 years, winning many local motocross championships before moving into open wheel racing. For the last 11 years, Memo has raced in nearly every form of professional auto racing series. The most recent being the CART FedEx championship where he raced 32 times and has been on the podium three times on his way to being one of the most popular drivers on the circuit. Memo's impressive karting record includes being a two time SKUSA SuperNationals winner and a Factory Trackmagic Kart driver for over 10 years. "I am really excited to be part of the Reno ATV and Karting market," said Gidley. "I have a huge passion for both sports and I am looking forward to Rocket Factory growing into the kind of store that Jason and I have envisioned." Jason's ATV experience began over 20 years ago on a 1986 Honda ATC70 that his Dad bought him at age four to ride the dunes of Oregon. Currently Jason is an avid recreational ATV rider and can been seen tearing up Sand Mountain and other local Reno hot spots on his Yamaha Banshee. Jason's karting resume is also impressive. Karting for over 15 years he has won numerous local and national championships including being the 1999 SKUSA Moto World Champion while driving as a factory Trackmagic driver. Jason's experience in car racing also includes wins in the Barber Dodge, Formula Mazda and winner of the 2001 Formula Ford 2000 title. "The store is cool," said Jason. "Memo and I have done everything from decorating our showroom to designing our portable DynoJet dyno to give our customers a level of satisfaction like no other...people are really going to be impressed". Memo goes on to say," Jason and I have been successful in racing because of our work ethic, attention to detail, and our integrity. We will use those skills to make Rocket Factory successful." Although the official grand opening is the first week of August, a number of people in the industry have been seen walking through and getting a sneak peak. "I'm impressed", said Fausto Vitello, owner of Trackmagic Karts, Thrasher Magazine and many other industry leading skateboard companies. "Memo and Jason have the right balance of creativity, personalities and work ethics to make a big impact in the ATV and Karting scene." Rocket Factory is located at 737 E. Glendale Ave., Sparks, NV 89431, and can be reached at 775-786-1372. |
