Gran Prix style starts headline at Lake VillageLAKE VILLAGE, IN - All divisions were treated to Gran Prix style starts. Rookie Purple began the day with Tyler Trainor grabbing the first heat race win. Points leader Brett Shoemaker picked up a win in the second heat. Nine karts lined up in Gran Prix formation awaiting the drop of the green flag. Having made some kart adjustments for this week's racing, Tyler Trainer got into the lead position and scored the feature win! Mr.TJ Flynn finished second and Brett Shoemakcr took third in the Rookie Purple feature. Rookie Blue was the next division on the racetrack and points leader Joe Kish dominated, winning both 10-lap heat races. In the Rookie Blue feature, Joe also took fitst place, Brock Shoemaker grabbed second and Kyle McKinney finished in third. Stock Lite was all Kathy Tucker as she made a clean sweep winning both heat races and the 15-lap feature. 2001 Rookie Blue Champion Sam Geeding took second place in the feature and talented newcomer Joe Luca.s finished third in Stock Lite on Sunday. Yamaha Super Can racing battled bumper to bumper as Ryan Otterman won the first heat race. In the second heat race J.D. Gunn took a wild-siide around turn seven, but it was 2001 Champ Brian Brinkman who won heat race two. During a driver interview earlier on Sunday, Brinkman told the crowd how much he enjoys Gran Prix starts. Brian was on the money as the green flag flew he grabbed first place immediately and fought hard against his competition for the win. Battling tough, Ryan Otterman took second place, points leadcr Butch Tillotta got third and after a last lap crash JD Gunn took fourth. Lake Village's feature drivers this week are female racers Kathy Tucker and Stacey' Martin. Both of these ladies drove brilliantly and are an inspiration to all female drivers.
