    NATIONAL VENUE ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM STARS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -The Champ Car Stars of Tomorrow karting series released more information on its 2003 national schedule today. Three of the "to be announced" race weekends have been settled, including one date change to accommodate participating kart racers.

"We have completed both West and East Division schedules for 2003," said Stars' Operations Director Paul Zalud. "Going to Colorado and British Columbia in the west and Florida in the east gives Stars a fairly balanced presence, all things considered. Travel is one of the biggest burdens on the racer. It is the reason we have an east-west structure. This schedule still gets the 'show' to different areas within the continent."

The June 6-8 western event will be held at CRE Motorsports Park near Denver and Colorado Springs. The eastern TBA of September 12-14 will be held at the 103rd Street Complex in Jacksonville, Florida.

"We very much wanted to race in Florida, and the people in Jacksonville have been active in addressing some safety concerns, including dealing with the earthen bank that has caused some trouble in the past. Stars wishes to put its competitors on the best and safest tracks that we can."

The August 15-17 western TBA has been changed. The race will now take place September 12-14 at the beautiful CARTBC facility in Chilliwack, British Columbia.

"We had set the schedule during our successful talks with the WKA and SCCA a few months ago but delayed in releasing it until the deal was done," said Zalud. "In the meantime, other race schedules were announced. Now we're all doing a little dancing to not put undue load on our participants who may want to run other events. The best choice was to move this date out of the mid-August timeframe and give the racers a little breathing room."

The only remaining "TBA" date is the season finale, October 30 to November 2. Strong progress is being made with a premier venue and details will be soon forthcoming.

The Champ Car 'Stars of Tomorrow' karting series is the official first level in CART's driver development system and an officially sanctioned series of WKA/SCCA Pro Racing. Founded by racing star Bryan Herta and now owned in conjunction with a group of racing veterans, including three-time CART champion and Indy 500 winner Bobby Rahal, the Stars of Tomorrow serves as the first step for the CART driver development ladder. Stars focuses on recognizing the skills of the drivers rather than the technology development within the machines, using FIA/CIK International standards.
