Matt Jaskol wins thrilling CART "Stars of Tomorrow" presented by Snap-On.com at Road AmericaBy Glenn Holland (eRacingvision.com) Jaskol, from Las Vegas, Nevada, unexpectedly dove in on Martin at the end of the main straight on the final lap. The two had swapped the lead several times in the waning moments of the race. "Martin had about 20 feet on me going down the straightway when I saw the white flag and I knew I had to make it happen in the corner. I just decided it was time to pull a Zanardi." Jaskol made the pass stick despite heavy pressure from Martin. Martin was clearly disappointed despite his good run. "I took a look back and had ten kart lengths on him so I made the decision to set up (for the corner) wide and get a good drive out. As I started to turn in he comes flying in so I tried to go back around the outside of him but there was no grip out there." Franklin/PCR's Alan Rudolph had stalked the two leaders the latter half of the race and was nearly able to make an issue of it at the end. "I was held up by traffic at the beginning. When I finally got around it, they were too far ahead. I was hoping they (Jaskol and Martin) would dice sooner, but that didn't happen."
