Herta talks about 'Stars' GrandNationals, ICA demonstration classVALENCIA, CA (September 3, 2002) - CART Stars of Tomorrow founder Bryan Herta spoke recently about recent events and the next few important months in the program. "Firstly, I wanted to make sure our participants know exactly how they can race at the Grand Nationals in Las Vegas in November. Staying true to our original support of the season-long race structure, any racer that has participated in four Stars events, either regional or national races, can enter the Grands. There are still some regional races upcoming and one National event in British Columbia next month, and I encourage all racers to do what they can to get to Vegas." Herta was also excited to announce the inclusion of a demonstration class for the ICA formula at the Grand Nationals, slated for November 8-10, 2002. "Our plan was to be in line with FIA/CIK regulations, and we had already announced that ICA and JICA (Junior) classes would join the ICC class in 2003. In order to give the people interested in such a class a chance to get the ball rolling, we will have a race for the ICA formula. People interested in more information should contact us through the www.cartstars.com website." The recent signing of Snap-on.com, the internet arm of the long-time tool giant has drawn much attention to the Stars program and Herta has liked what he has seen. "The Snap-on folks have been very supportive, and the response at the Road America race was tremendous. Snap-on.com has already helped us give away over $15,000 in tools just at the Road America race. With Snap-on.com, we will be able to televise the Vegas Grand Nationals. This is the sort of corporate partner program karting has needed for a long time." Lastly, Bryan's outlook for next year is bullish. "We certainly have had growing pains this year, and some of the faces and names have changed. We have extremely exciting plans in development for 2003 to make Stars everything we set out to make it and more." The CART 'Stars of Tomorrow' karting series is the official first level in CARTs driver development system. Specifically designed as a driver development series, Stars focuses on recognizing the skills of the drivers rather than the technology development within the machines, using FIA/CIK international standards.
