A Cadet Jr. Sportsman in Race 4 of WKA's Manufacturer's Cup
By Dominic Scheer (Montoya Racing)
DOUSMAN, WI (August 17-18, 2002) - Badger Raceway is a very fast track with a lot of rubber, even though it is still hard to keep traction on some of the tracks ten corners. The track is asphalt with concrete on the turns. The whole place overall is a very nice track. The track is in very good condition and has real apexes!
Good teamwork, support and setup lead me to a good weekend at Badger Raceway. The weekend started out with a very rainy Saturday morning but then the sun came out and the track dried up quickly. In the qualifying round I qualified 10th with a 42.467 and in the pre-final round I moved up to 7th. Then in the final on Saturday I moved up to 6th place.
On Sunday it was sunny all day. During the pre-final round I moved up to third but with two laps to go the whole train passed me and I moved back down to 7th place. In the final round I gained a position at the start and gradually moved up to fifth. Fifth Place was awarded a large plaque and a helmet bag. Photos were also taken of the top five finishers on Sunday. Overall, I know I can be in the top three in the National Circuit or even higher in New York.
Yamaha Jr Sportsman and HPV Jr Sportsman were two other classes I tried to attempt but the engines were no good. For me they were more track time In the National, hopefully in New York I will have the engines ready for racing.
Next race will be in New York on the 20th of September. I look forward to improving to better than 5th place.
I would like to thank all of the people at Kart mini of America for all of their help and support. Also, I would like to thank Corsa driving suits for all of their help and I would like to thank mostly my step dad, Salomon Bendayan.
