    LANGKAWI, MALAYSIA (August 11, 2002) - Team SAJIBUMI YOUNG GUNS claimed the Prime Minister's Cup this year after winning the Pan Global Indy 40 Enduro 2002. Starting in pole, Sajibumi dropped down to 9th after the first lap due to a slow start. However, they climbed up the ranks steadily and reached the 2nd spot by lap 62.

    The actual physical finish saw Sajibumi remaining in 2nd spot completing 197 laps, with Team FCS of Japan in first recording 199 laps. However, Team FCS was disqualified by the Race Officials for a technical infringement. This elevated Sajibumi to the top spot, claiming the RM40,000 (USD$1 = RM3.80) cash prize as well as the challenge trophy. Sajibumi, a Malaysian based team sponsored by the Sajibumi Group of Companies, was actually manned by two Malaysian drivers, one Australian and one Siamese:

    * Nik Iruwan Izani (MAS)
    * Aaron Lim (MAS)
    * Barclay Holden (AUS)
    *Munkong Sathienthirakul (THA)

    Second spot was claimed by team Kart Master 2 comprising John Sim (SIN), Devin Cunningham (CAN), Zahir Ali (SIN), Kenneth Sim (SIN). They completed 196 laps to receive the cash award of RM30,000. Third placed Pan Global 1, comprising Rodney Magness (MAS), Faizal Hakimi (MAS), Fahrizal Hassan (MAS) and Zarith Alfian (MAS) received RM20,000 for completing 195 laps in third. The final Rm10,000 cash award winner was Team TBMC comprising Bob Ngaau (MAS), David Ong (MAS), Wong Chung Sing (MAS) and Jason Wong (MAS).

    This year saw the qualifying on Saturday done in wet conditions. The start of the endurance race on Sunday also saw thunder clouds coming in from the horizon, steadily heading towards the track. However the arrival of YB Dato' Hishamuddin, the Sports Minister to officially flag-off the race seemed to coincide with a brightening of the day. The race was thus run in dry conditions.

They claimed top spot at one stage from lap 59, but dropped down to 13th position in lap 139 due to problems with their engine and a broken chain.

    Kart Master also dueled with Sajibumi in the closing stages of the race. They were 2nd from lap 134, with Sajibumi 5th and La Maree 4th. Sajibumi managed to overtake La Maree, who by then developed engine problems, and started the charge towards Kart Master. For the next over 40 laps, Kart Master maintained the 2nd position and Sajibumi in third. Finally in lap 174 Sajibumi clinched the 2nd spot, and later elevated to first with FCS's disqualification.

    Pan Global 1 managed to be first in the early laps, but dropped down to13th on lap 5. However they regained positions steadily throughout the race, gaining the 4th spot by lap 173. FCS's disqualification brought them the third spot.
