Path Valley finishes Karts points races

    By Walt Cox
Click to Enlarge! SPRING RUN, PA - Only one race for karts and quads remains on the Path Valley Speedway Park schedule with the completion of the regular Saturday afternoon points races Sept. 21.

Zack Fouse in Jr. Sportsman I and Frankie Peters in Jr. Sportsman II were two upset winners in their classes as most of the wins went to the points leaders in each class. The final race was scored on completed heat races when afternoon showers washed out the main events.

The final race for karts at Path Valley is Saturday night, Oct. 26, with gates open at 5 p.m. for the great many karters who requested a chance to race on the softer nighttime clay. The totally new event for Path Valley Oct. 26 is a Saturday Night Finale for the Path Valley karters with the Burris SpecTrak tire rule waived except for the Champ caged classes and with WKA tech rules in effect. Payback will be 75 percent of entry fees for the senior kart classes and 50 percent in the junior classes.

Tickets are available at the track for the annual awards banquet Nov. 23 at the Pleasant Hall Fire Company. Doors open at 3 p.m. for the kart and quad awards, followed by the dinner with doors opening at 5 p.m. for sprint and car teams and the stock car and sprint awards following the catered feast. Final season points standings will be released to media and announced as soon as compiled and verified at www.pathvalley.com.

The Path Valley Speedway Park is located in Spring Run PA a mile north on PA Route 641 from the intersection with PA Route 75, halfway between Port Royal and Hagerstown. It is five miles east from the Willow Hill Exit 14 of the PA Turnpike. The new phone number at the track for promoter Ken Geesey is 717-349-7111.

For information on the 2002 schedule and track, race teams and fans can call the owners at 717-426-4756 or 717-426-2910, consult the website at www.pathvalley.com, or they can email them at twp@pathvalley.com.
