Action heats up under the lights at Mid-State Raceway SPRINGFIELD, IL - The first true night race was held at Mid-State Raceway on August 24 with the completion of the track lighting system in the oval section of the track. With the full lighting system now in place, Mid-State Raceway now has more flexibility in scheduling events on the _ mile sprint track and oval. Look for more night races to be on next year's schedule, and possibly some night racing with the Mid-West Sprint Series. The Mid-State Kart club has also made it a priority to construct a new restroom building near the relocated pit area. For those of you with shifter karts looking for a little extra track time, Mid-State has scheduled two informal shifter days to run with their regular program on September 22 and October 13. A couple of date changes have been made for this year's schedule to accommodate participation in the Track Challenge race to be held at Dousman, WI on October 6. The point race scheduled for October 6 at Mid-State has been cancelled and a point race has been added on September 29. The final point race of the year will be held on October 13 and double points will be awarded. A special endurance race has been scheduled for October 20, the final event of the season.
