Fast Times Fall AgainDOUSMAN, WI (September 9, 2002) - Hot and humid conditions made for a long day of racing at the Badger Raceway in Dousman. However, the track was in excellent condition and fast times fell like leaves in Autumn as quite a few racers dialed in the right combinations for the features. One of the most exciting races was the 2-Cycle Jr. Sportsman. For six laps, Jessica Brannam, Patrick Olsen and Forrest Biersach ran nose-to-tail. The three broke away from the rest of the pack early and put on their own show. Jessica Brannan won over Patrick Olsen by .120 seconds. In doing so, the top three all broke Forrest Biersach's previous fast time for the year. But Biersach ended up the fastest yet, besting his record by a half second! Eric Suminski took top honors in HPV Heavy. Suminski was running second to Matt Mercier when the two went side-by-side into Turn One on the white flag lap. Mercier appeared to loose him momentum slightly and this allowed Suminski past as well as Nicole Baier, who was connected to Suminski's bumper. At the checkers it was Suminski, Baier and Mercier. The husband and wife team of Charlene and Mark Jung finally scored a one-two finish in Yamaha Lite with Charlene taking the top spot on the podium. Jeff Hanisch finished third and Joel Steffen, although finishing 4th, managed to break the fast time for 2002. Erick Heiling smashed his previous track record in Briggs Animal Sr. by over six tenths en route to winning this week. David Koeferl came in second. Joe Brenner broke his fast time while winning the Jr. Can feature. TJ Nevels was right on him but he just couldn't make the pass. Jerry Kindler won Yamaha Heavy while the pursuing Mark Baier took fast time. Joe Hartmann grabbed another fast time in Briggs Jr. Stock but it was Shelley Krzewinski who wound up on top at the end. Tylor Wolfert had the field covered in Briggs Lite winning by over three seconds while Mike Landeck added another feature win and fast time to his resume in Briggs Heavy. The next race in the Bridgestone Tire BKC Championship points series is scheduled for September 15th. Also coming up is the Track Challenge on October 6th. This race pits racers from the Midwest's top tracks against one another for prizes and track points. The track which scores the most points not only gets the traveling cup but the right to host the event the next year. RESULTS (Top 3 - (FT) denotes Fast Time): Yamaha Lite: 1.) Charlene Jung, 2.)
