Jamie Bach splashes to two victories in as many days, making it four wins in a rowELKHART LAKE, WI (May 12, 2002) - If this weekend is any indication, Jamie Bach is in for a strong season of performances at Road America. Bach and his B-K team went to Road America this weekend for a Double Event race weekend to put in some solid track time and testing in preparation for three major upcoming events at the famed four mile racing circuit north of Milwaukee. Not only did Bach gather some important seat time, but he sat on the pole both days and came home with two run away victories. Saturday's event was run under heavy rains and the B-K Formula Mazda pilot came home with an over two and half minute victory. Sunday's event, run on a drying track, saw Bach come cross the finish line thirty-seconds ahead of his next closest competitor. In both events, he led flag-to-flag, starting from the top spot for the second and third times this season.
Perhaps the key of the weekend, however, is that on Saturday morning - in the weekend's only completely dry session - Bach turned a lap just a few ticks off of the blistering Road America track record set during the 2001 June Sprints by Formula Mazda National Champion Matt Beardsley. This weekend was the first of four appearances for Bach and B-K at Road America during the 2002 season. The major upcoming events at Road America for Bach and B-K are the June Sprints (June 20-23), the STAR MAZDA PRO SERIES event (July 5-7), and CAT National (July27-28). "We are extremely pleased with the results of this weekend. To run out front meant a bunch for our team. The weather was a bit disappointing, since we were really hoping to get a bunch of clear track time and testing data. We definitely got some data, but it was more about a rain set-up we are comfortable with than dry settings. We are very excited about Saturday morning's session. We made some changes to the car after the Blackhawk win and things felt very good. We are really looking forward to coming back here for the Sprints, the PRO Race, and the CAT National. This is really our home track and we are going to have a huge group of folks out to watch us run at the big events. We will have some special folks with us from the Boy Scouts of America and Mother's Against Drunk Driving at the three upcoming races. I truly hope we can put on a similar show as we did this weekend. It would mean a great deal to our program to score victories in those races. We will come prepared and see what happens." 2002 RESULTS: |
