Carlson takes first feature win of 2002ROCKFORD, IL - Adam Carlson's pass on the final lap of the feature race at Rockford Speedway gives him his first feature win of the 2002 season. The twelve-year-old driver from Lisle, Illinois is competing in the Burris Circle Tour, Jr. III kart class. Adam started seventh in the fifteen-lap feature race and quickly made his way through the field, passing each competitor one at a time to take the win. Adam Carlson Racing arrived at Rockford Speedway with an entirely new Phantom chassis and Super Tech Performance engine combination and finished fifth in the first heat race. After a few adjustments in the setup he dominated the second heat race, starting fourth he was in the lead by the first turn and never looked back, leading every lap by a large margin. Because of the fifth place finish, high draw number, and amount of karts (there were seventeen in all) Adam had to start seventh in the feature race. He had to work at passing, high and low but was able to overtake each kart in front of him. " Our team learned a lot today and we were able to unlock some magic in our kart to put us back up front", " I'd like to thank my team and my sponsors for their support especially Watercolor.com, Leaf Racewear, Razor Image, Burris Racing, Whitledge Racing Enterprises, JB Racing and all the people that have helped us out." |
