River City Fast Karts moves to new location for "2002 Saturday Night Dirt Track Madness"ALEDO, IL - River City Fast Karts promoters Roger, Shirley and Erik Sollenberger of Brimfield, Illinois are pleased to announce a change for the 2002 karting season. Operations have been moved to Mercer County Fairgrounds in Aledo, Illinios, home of the Aledo Raceway. For the past two seasons races were held at the 1/4-mile dirt track at the Peoria Speedway in Peoria, Illinois. The move to Aledo Raceway was due to escalating rental costs and insurance fees making it impossible to continue racing at Peoria Speedway. Aledo Raceway is located about thirty miles southwest of the Quad Cities area and is 1/4-mile in length with about twenty-four degrees of banking in the corners and an almost flat straightaway. Although there is no wall around the racetrack, there is a short wall between the dirt track and the 1/2-mile horse track on the outside of the front straightaway that will not pose any danger to the racers. A short wall is also on the inside if the front stretch in front of the judges stand. The large pit area is located off the third and fourth turns and has ample room for haulers. River City Fast Karts will race each Saturday night with the gates opening at 4:30 p.m. for set-up, hot laps at 5:30 p.m. and racing to begin at 6:30 p.m. sharp. Special programs at Aledo Raceway will see the gates opening earlier at 1:00 p.m. and hot laps to begin at 3:00 p.m. and racing at 4:00 p.m! Fuel and parts will be available at the track for all events and each karter must also declare at Pre-Tech if they are running a WKA or an IKF motor. Kart classes for the 2002 season will consist of the following: Jr. I Light - 235 lbs. w/.425 Blue restrictor; Jr. I Heavy - 250 lbs. w/.425 Blue restrictor; Jr. Champ - 345 lbs. w/M-15A or M-15B tires only; Jr. II Light - 280 lbs. w/.500 Red restrictor; Jr.II Heavy. w.500 Red restrictor; Cadets (beginners ages 5-7) - 225 lbs. w/Box Stock 5hp Briggs w/.425 Blue restrictor; Stock Light - 320 lbs.; Stock Medium (specials events only) - 345 lbs.; Stock Heavy - 370 lbs.; 2-Cycle Yamaha Pipe - 350 lbs.; 100 cc Piston Port - 350 lbs. and 100 cc Reed Rotary - 370 lbs. A large grandstand will greet spectators along the front stretch with a concession stand available with sandwiches, soft drinks and ice cream for the kids!
