    • "New Road Courses Add Excitement to IRA Road Racing"
      With several new road courses in various stages of construction, the MG Tires Championship Enduro Series and the SSC Racing Shifter Kart Pro Series have much to look forward to. The nearly completed facility, which is on the IRA schedule for this year, is the Mid-America Motorplex located in Pacific Junction, Iowa.

    • "SSC Racing to import/distribute Biland 250cc 4-Cycle Engine in North America; Biland World Challenge also announced"
      The revolutionary Swiss-built, Biland SA250 4-cycle powerplant, recently showcased at the prestigious Paris-Bercy celebrity karting extravaganza in France, will be exclusively imported and distributed in North America by SSC Racing, announced company President Joe Ramos. In addition, an international championship -- the Team Biland World Challenge -- was also announced.

    • "Clay City Kart Speedway takes Kart racing to NASCAR"
      CCKS has started the 'Win A Ride' Sweepstakes Promotion. Chances are being taken on a 2002 Ultramax Blaze throughout the year to be given away at the season banquet. This kart is an extremely sharp Ultramax race-ready chassis complete with all of the necessary equipment to take to the racetrack. The kart in on display at Bobby Allison's Winner's Circle - an officially liscensed NASCAR collectible store located in Suite 148 at the Hamburg Pavilion.

    • "Rock Island Grand Prix and SKUSA announce "Rock Island Cup" series"
      The Rock Island Grand Prix and Superkarts! USA have come together to present an exciting conclusion to two new SKUSA semi-pro classes for 2002. The Rock Island Grand Prix is in its eighth year and features races for 14 classes of karts, including 2-cycle and 4-cycle clutch karts as well as shifter karts. It also features the Rotax Max Street Challenge. Presenting Sponsors of the Rock Island Grand Prix are SBC/Ameritech and Bi-State Home Improvement Corp.

    • "Shift Kart and SKUSA join forces for 2002 CART support race"
      For the second time in as many years, shifterkarts will be a featured support event for the 2002 GI Joe's CART FedEx Championship Series Race at Portland International Raceway. The annual event held over Father's Day weekend was a very popular addition to last year's race. J&M Body Shops, a Portland-based chain of auto repair shops, will sponsor this year's event, and will be billed as the J&M Body Shops Shifter Kart Challenge.

    • "Rahal Teams with ShiftKart, Birel and MooseSpeed for 2002"
      Shift Kart head Paul Zalud announced that Graham Rahal, will campaign the 2002 season on a Birel chassis under the Shift Kart banner. Paired with Rahal is top-rated tuner Sean Mossgrove, working out of his Moosespeed shop in the Columbus, Ohio area. The association is showing early signs of success as Rahal has shown solid progress in the two Florida Winter Tour events.

    • "CART 'Stars of Tomorrow' Series announces Spec Tires and Fuel"
      Mr. Hollis Brown, National Race Director for the CART Stars of Tomorrow karting series, announced the definition of specified fuel and tires for all classes in the series. Brown and Bryan Herta, founder of the Stars series and professional race driver, are to be credited with securing of the agreements with each supplier. The announcement of the fuel and tire specifications will allow the final touches to be added to the NAKA Technical Regulations.

    • "The Launch of Two New 'E' Companies"
      With an expanding range of opportunities, the founders of Ekartingnews have announced the formation of two new sister companies. eRacingoutlet will handle duties as the coordinator of the SoCal Rotax Max Challenge series and as the regional Rotax engine distributor for southern California. Meanwhile, eRacingvision, in addition to providing website design/hosting services and marketing/public relations consulting, will soon release a karting video project produced in conjunction with Brian Lockwood Productions, Inc.

    • "SCCA, WKA join forces"
      SCCA Pro Racing LTD and the World Karting Association (WKA) announced at Kart Expo 2002 in St. Charles, Illinois the formation of the WKA/SCCA Pro Racing Constructors Championship. A distinct new ladder for karters to move into a variety of race cars through the Sports Car Club of America and Pro Racing programs.

      A group of drivers tested the racing surface for the first time at the new Sears Point Karting Center and the reviews were positive. It was the first time karts were allowed on the racing surface, which had received two layers of asphalt within the last month. Drivers on the recently completed three-quarter mile, 16-turn course included instructors from Jim Russell International Karting and Sears Point Raceway.
