    June - 2002

    • MG Tires/Championship Enduro Series Opens 2002 Season at Gateway
      Gateway International Raceway, near St. Louis, was the host site for the opening round of the MG Tires/Championship Enduro Series. Although the forecast called for rain Friday and Saturday, only a couple hours of practice time were lost to rain on Friday. Even with the rain delay, 13 rounds of practice were held on Friday and three more rounds of practice were held on Saturday morning before the races. The organization of the series, now in it's sixth year, has been refined to the point where everything operates so smoothly on race days that the event was finished by 2:30 PM on Sunday.
    • Adam Carlson wins at Illiana Spededway
      The Burris Circle Tour made its first stop at Illiana Speedway for the 2002 season Sunday June 15th and Adam Carlson continued his winning ways at the racetrack. Adam is currently undefeated in feature wins at Illiana in the classes he has run here. He won both feature races on last year's tour in the Briggs Junior 1 class and has won his first feature race in the Briggs Junior III class. He is currently leading in points in his class.
    • The Battle in Lake Geneva
      The fourth stop of the Burris Circle Tour thrilled the fans at Lake Geneva Raceway with unsurpassed action in Champ Karts, go karts and Kid Karts all day long. The feature races got off to an exciting start with the Jr. Champ class getting all mixed up and a few of them on their lids. After straightening out the tangled karts and making sure everyone was OK, Matt Vice jumped out into the lead.
    • Team has Successful Outing at South Bend Raceway Park
      Team Willis/CRG Racing spent a successful weekend racing at the "new" South Bend Raceway Park in South Bend Indiana. Participating in the SKUSA Great Lakes Region races were Team Willis/CRG Racing S1 and K1 driver Chris Leonard, K1 and FIC driver Matt Melster and 80 Junior driver Donnie Bussell.
    • Stars-Eracingvision deal falls through
      eRacingvision announced today that its agreement in principle to acquire a controlling interest in the CART Stars of Tomorrow series had fallen through. Financial commitments related to previous sponsor agreements terminally affected the conditions of the new ownership.
    • Innovative new gear shifting device declared legal by SKUSA
      Modifications to an innovative new gear shifting device launched at the World Kart Expo in February has made it legal to use for Sprint 125 Division racing. The new Sharp Shifter pneumatic gear changing device attracted considerable interest when it was launched at the Chicago show and questions raised about its legality have now been addressed by the optional removal of the ignition kill device.
    • Ten divisions compete for Midseason Championship at Thunder Hill
      All ten divisions of kart racers competed for the Midseason Championships at Thunder Hill Speedway Saturday night. Awards were presented to the top five finishers in each feature event by Susa/Hawk Racing Engines. A pre-fourth of July fireworks display entertained the fans following the racing action. Fourth of July commemorative trophies will be presented by Otter Acres Plaques and Trophies of Wheeler next Saturday at Thunder Hill.
    • Rock Island Grand Prix staff release licensing update
      The Rock Island Grand Prix announced that effective immediately, the inaugural running of the FIA/CIK Intercontinental C class at the Rock Island Grand Prix will not have any nationallicense restrictions. The Rock Island Grand Prix and Superkarts! USA also announced that the Formula IC portion of the Rock Island Cup Series would be suspended. The Formula G1 Rock Island Cup Series will be run to its conclusion with the exciting final East meets West showdown at the Rock Island Grand Prix, August 31-Sept. 1.

    • Phantom drivers win at Rockford Speedway
      Phantom chassis drivers scored top finishes in the Burris National Speedway Series/ Burris Circle Tour race at Rockford Speedway Sunday May 27, 2002, including the top four spots in the Briggs Senior Lite. The chassis of choice is the Phantom Nemesis which has proven to be a contender in the fourteen race speedway pavement series.
    • Bedford and Blair riders dominate Path Valley Karts
      "It was real close," said Chris Claar after winning a new Briggs "boxstock" engine Saturday in the Path Valley Speedway Park's Motor Race. "These kids coming up are really good," added the Osterburg veteran of 21 year of open wheel kart racing. The Path Valley Speedway Park is located in Spring Run PA a mile north on PA Route 641 from the intersection with PA Route 75, halfway between Port Royal and Hagerstown.
    • CART STARS OF TOMORROW
      Arrangements have just been finalized to launch the newest region of the Cart Stars of tomorrow series, in the Pacific Northwest. This region is the first to involve another country Canada, and moves toward developing a truly North American Series. This series creates the first rung on the motor sports ladder, leading to CART.
    • Jamie Bach and B-K score seventh road race win in a row and are one win away from CENDIV title
      In just two weeks, Jamie Bach could be celebrating one of the biggest wins of his racing career at the June Sprints at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin... his home track. In addition, with a win that day, Bach and B-K Motorsports could be celebrating their second SCCA Central Division National Championship in two years.
    • Mid States Super Series races at Grattan
      The second round of the 2002 Russell Karting / Dunlop Tire Mid States Super Series stopped at the famous Grattan Raceway. Known as a driver's track, strong winds on Friday gave drivers a challenge to get around the 2 mile course. With the forecast showing rain for Saturday and Sunday,
    • Kart Mini of America Team
      Kart Mini produced incredible results this weekend at Homestead by posting pole positions in five classes. Homestead is the host to the Rotax Max Challenge Series and local club events.
    • "AgressiveWear" by MMP Design now available on all new website
      MMP Design has recently released a line of T-shirts specifically designed for karting and formula car racing. The T-shirt line includes designs for 125cc & 250cc shifterkart racing as well as numerous formula car classes.
    • The MASTERKART
      OMP USA would like to introduce OMP's new karting suit, The Masterkart. This new suit from OMP is approved under the CIK-FIA 2001-1, Level 2 requirements. The Masterkart is a professional karting suit made with Cordura fabric with an open weave sponge cotton lining for enhanced cooling and drying capabilities.
    • IKF Champion George Mack Has Great Rookie Run at Indy
      True rookie George Mack, who started in the last row of the Indianapolis 500, ran a smart race and brought his car home in one piece to finish 17th in his first appearance at the Indy 500. Mack is only the second African-American to compete in the 500 after Willy T. Ribbs made appearances in 1991 and 1993.
