Kart Mini of America Team
June 30,2002 - Kart Mini produced incredible results this weekend at Homestead by posting pole positions in five classes. Homestead is the host to the Rotax Max Challenge Series and local club events.
The Rotax Max Challenge selects the top five drivers in each division. Those drivers compete at a final race in Las Vegas, the Rotax Max Challenge US Nationals. The winner of each Division will receive an all expense paid trip to the World Finals held in South Africa. Kart Mini had the field covered with Pedro Jacobson (Rotax Max International), Robert Cao Jr. (Rotax Masters), Joe D'Agostino (Rotax Max Jr.), Federico Montoya (Formula Y Senior) and Dominic Scheer (Cadet) all taking pole positions. Qualifying was in the dry but for the feature everyone had to use rain tires, as the rain was falling at a constant pace.
In the Rotax Division all of the groups were combined and at the start of the race Pedro Jacobson jumped out to an early lead, while from his seventh starting spot, Joe D'Agostino was on a charge to the front. With a little more than half of the race distance gone, Joe was making a bid for the lead of the race overall. Joe got by Pedro and increased his lead over the entire field and setting the fastest lap of the race in the process. Pedro Jacobson finished fourth after having some difficulties with his engine and Robert Cao Jr. drove home in a solid second place position in his class. Both Pedro and Robert recorded fastest race laps for their categories as well. In Formula Yamaha Senior, Federico Montoya started from the pole and made short work of the rest of the field easily winning his race and setting fastest race lap.
Dominic Scheer, one of our factory drivers, had a great start in his feature race and drove flawlessly to take a well deserved win in the Cadet class. Dominic also recorded the fastest race lap on his way to victory.
Congratulations to all our Kart Mini drivers for an excellent performance at Homestead this weekend.
