Ten divisions compete for Midseason Championship at Thunder HillMENOMONIE, WI (June 29, 2002) - All ten divisions of kart racers competed for the Midseason Championships at Thunder Hill Speedway Saturday night. Awards were presented to the top five finishers in each feature event by Susa/Hawk Racing Engines. A pre-fourth of July fireworks display entertained the fans following the racing action. After winning the 2001 points championship in the Senior Sportsman Division, Jeff Reetz advanced to the Stock Medium ranks in 2002 and has struggled to get his new #11 kart to perform to his expectations. On Saturday night, Reetz changed all of that when he drove to victory lane for the first time this year. Reetz wasted no time when he passed Steve Alton on the first lap to take the runner-up spot. Then on lap four he maneuvered past pole sitter Jake Alton for the lead and never looked back. In other action, Gene Supri led the entire race to win his second feature of the season over Roger Rislow in the Senior Sportsman go. Mike Alton proved to be too much for his brothers as he topped the Stock Heavy field ahead of Steve and Jake Alton. John Cartmill made a charge to the front late in the Winged Outlaw race passing Wyatt Wolfe with four laps remaining to carry the checkers. Mark Gerth backed up his victory last week with a win in Junior II competition, Jake Alton continued his dominance in the Blue Wazooms and Evan Quilling made it two in a row for Stock Lights. Scott Reetz inherited top honors after the Junior I Feature Event when apparent victor, Matt McCauley, failed the tech inspection. Abbey Roschen took command for her fourth feature win of the year in Junior Sportsman action and Reggie Moe registered his second win of the season in the Novice Division. Fourth of July commemorative trophies will be presented by Otter Acres Plaques and Trophies of Wheeler next Saturday at Thunder Hill.
