"Kart Racing Motorsports, Inc. to open retail site at South Bend Raceway Park"

SOUTH BEND, IN - Immediately following the news of their purchase of South Bend Raceway Park, Kart Racing Motorsports, Inc. (KRM) announced the construction of a retail, warehousing, and service facility to be located on-site at SBRP. Building is due to begin in February, with a planned opening in Mid-April for the rapidly growing business that was started in April of 2001.

"This was in the works prior to the purchase of the track. In order to enhance karting's visibility as an exciting alternative to high cost motorsports, we knew that it was extremely important to offer our racers, and area residents a premiere facility that included a full-scale rental, retail, and service kart shop. Our goal is to have a facility that attracts new racers to the sport of karting, and ultimately, increase participation. In addition, we have spent a lot of time researching manufacturers and building relationships with industry leaders to ensure we are offering the product and service levels that our customers are entitled to," stated KRM owner Craig Ferrara.

KRM will offer a product line that includes all necessary parts, accessories, and racewear, from leading manufacturers including Horstman Clutches & HPV motors, KG, Righetti Ridolfi, Bridgestone & Dunlop tires, Douglas Wheels, and Kingdragon Racewear. Most notably, KRM secured dealership rights to HAASE chassis, and is also the Indiana Regional Distributor / Service Center for the ROTAX Max FR125 spec engine package. KRM is also actively pursuing additional product offerings, both as dealer/distributor and importer.

"We have been extremely pleased with the HAASE chassis line and the relationship we've built with National Kart Supply, Importer of the HAASE Chassis line. They've given us a great opportunity to represent what we believe is one of the best-detailed and technologically advanced chassis lines in karting. The ROTAX Max program has also been getting a lot of interest lately. We look forward to growing that class both on a Junior and Senior level with our ROTAX Max Challenge Series. Joe Ramos and Tom White of SSC Racing were gracious to give us that opportunity, and we plan on the ROTAX program being a prominent piece of our business portfolio," stated Chad Hartzell of KRM.

The new facility will also house the KRM fleet of 20 Haase Rental Chassis equipped with 9 HP Honda engines, in addition to racing school karts that will utilize the HPV and Rotax Max FR125 engine packages.

"We need to promote this sport to the general public. Our rental program will allow people to arrive and drive and get a taste of what karting is about. From there, they can move into a full blown racing school which uses the same chassis / engine packages that are raced here regularly. Eventually, we will offer racing leagues as part of our rental program. We will also offer corporate entertainment packages for large groups. We have even scheduled a charity event that will utilize our rental chassis for a street race. The interest has been there for quite a while. We just needed to step up and execute a business plan that made sense. And I think we have been successful in doing so," Ferrara noted.
