"NAKA, Bryan Herta and the Las Vegas Karting Center form a new alliance"

JANUARY 27, 2002 - In a joint announcement today, Bryan Herta, the North American Karting Association, the Las Vegas Karting Center, and SSC Racing revealed their plans for a major renovation and expansion of the Las Vegas karting facility. The project will begin immediately to develop the kart track into a "showcase" for kart racing and retail sales.

Bryan Herta and Hollis Brown have grown the Las Vegas Karting Center into one of the premier kart racing venues in the United States. Bryan's new partners in the Las Vegas Karting Center are a group headed up by SSC Racing of Palm Springs, California, a leading importer and distributor of karts and karting merchandise. Bryan Herta said, "I'm proud of what Hollis and I have been able to accomplish at the Las Vegas Karting Center over the past 3 years, and I am confident that the new partnership with SSC Racing will enable the Center to become the top kart facility in North America."

Hollis Brown, having sold his interest in the Las Vegas Karting Center, will assume full time duties as the Director of Racing for the 40 race CART Stars of Tomorrow series. This year will see a greatly expanded series offering the only formal racing driver career development program as part of the CART "ladder" structure. Hollis Brown added, "I have enjoyed my time at the Las Vegas Karting Center and I am looking forward to devote all my energy and effort growing the CART Stars of Tomorrow series".

The Las Vegas Karting Center will begin a complete renovation of the facility including a major paddock paving program, landscaping throughout the property, and additional buildings being added to the complex. The new buildings will include offices, drivers school, facility administration, and a retail store and service center.

The North American Karting Association, which has been contracted to administrate the CART Stars of Tomorrow program, has also been retained to manage the Las Vegas Karting Center. NAKA will relocate their operations to Las Vegas by March 1, 2002. This relationship will provide funding to NAKA for the many trade related programs they have developed to promote, grow, and upgrade the entire karting industry.

Joe Ramos, of SSC Racing, said "We are looking forward to our relationship with Bryan Herta to develop a state-of-the-art facility for kart racing, drivers schools, corporate events and a 'showcase' retail center. In addition, this will provide the opportunity to bring the infrastructure of NAKA to manage the entire operation and generate revenues for NAKA to support the karting trade-oriented efforts of the organization."
