Four score First-Time wins at ThunderHill MENOMONIE, WI (July 27, 2002) - The start of the Wang Memorial Race held at Thunder Hill Speedway in memory of Wayne and Dave Wang was delayed about one hour Saturday evening because of rain. With the help of some willing fans and competitors, track officials were able to dry the track and prepare it for a full slate of kart racing action. Awards for the top drivers were presented by Rayola Wang and Zeitz Construction while the fans received many door prizes provided by area businesses. Peter Lawrence has struggled most of the season in the New Blue Wazoom Division with what seemed to be handling problems. But on Saturday night, after some chassis adjustments and with a tacky track, everything seemed to be to his advantage as he made a clean sweep by winning both heats and then cruising to an easy first time victory in the main event. The night was highlighted by four different drivers scoring first time victories in their respective divisions. Cooper Dohms passed Lance Anderson on lap five for his initial victory in the Junior Sportsman Feature. Jordan Reetz led all 12 laps of the Junior I Main on his way to victory lane for the first time and Cody Moore carried the checkers for the first time after the Novice Feature. In other action, Jeff Reetz led flag-to-flag in the Stock Medium Feature, Jason Supri was in victory lane for the third time this season after the Stock Light Main and Gene Supri led the last half of the Senior Sportsman Feature to earn his fourth victory of the year. Todd Sinz took control from the start of the Winged Outlaw Feature and held off his brother Rob to preserve the victory. Mark Gerth squeezed out a win in the Junior II Main and Casey Stanton "dusted" the competition in Stock Heavy action. Airtec Sports of Menomonie is sponsoring trophies for next week's racing action.
