Click to Enlarge! SPRING RUN, PA (July 6, 2002) - While veteran young kart riders Alex Benda and Garrett Kuhns each won two features Saturday and repeat winners took the honors in other classes; the most excited youngster there was Bryan Hayberger of Duncannon.

Hayberger is in his rookie year at age 12 in the caged rookie class, and he won his first feature ever in a close race just ahead of Richie Good and Jim Slaseman in second and third. "It sure feels good, and this is a beautiful trophy," he said of the brass and oak wall plaque he received to commemorate his win.

Hayberger said some day he would like to race full-size sprint cars. Promoter Ken Geesey commented, "This is what makes it all worthwhile; seeing the excitement when a future Jeff Gordon or Steve Kinser wins his first race makes all the time and effort and money lost on our kart and quad program of little concern compared to the joy of a happy race winner."

Path Valley is a Burris Racing SpecTrack and karts and quads race every Saturday in July at Path Valley with gates open at 10 a.m. and Burris Tires racing by noon. The August 13 points race will also be a test and tune day for those karts going to Selinsgrove July 14 for the fourth race in the PDKA state championship series sanctioned by the Burris National Speedway Series.

The month of July reaches a climax for the karters with the Path Valley Summer Nationals with big cash prizes for the winners in the lite, medium and heavy karts on July 27.

The Path Valley Speedway Park is located in Spring Run PA a mile north on PA Route 641 from the intersection with PA Route 75, halfway between Port Royal and Hagerstown. It is five miles east from the Willow Hill Exit 14 of the PA Turnpike. The new phone number at the track for promoter Ken Geesey is 717-349-7111.
