Duranceau Grabs his first win ever at Monster World Speedway

UNITY, WI (July 13, 2002) - Warm weather and a smooth track brought a great night of kart racing to Monster World Speedway, where 6 classes of karts signed in to do battle Saturday night.

The first on the track were the Stock Mediums, with a strong lineup of karts. #81 Neil Duranceau jumped out to an early lead, trying to gain as much momentum to carry him throughout the rest of the race. Meanwhile, #57 Craig Leiders tried to sneak under #00 Shawn Erickson for 4th, and #129 Zak Rau tried to follow suit, but Erickson was too much for Rau, as Leiders tried to move up the field. In the end, in great fashion, Neil Duranceau took home his first ever feature win at MWS.

Off of the Hot Grid next were the Box Stocks, with #87 Colin Reffner jumping out to an early lead, lengthening it as the night went on, but a caution came out, giving time for #8 John Whitman to get closer to Reffner. Reffner didn't have enough to hold off the charge of Whitman, who dove under him on the inside, and took home the checkers.

The Junior 1 class saw the white and black #0 of Alex Hock back in the house, along with #7a Andrew Kaiser. Hock, after charging from the outside pole, dove to the inside of #45 Vadan Haney to take the lead, and then drove all the way back to the pits with checkered flag in hand, going back to his hometown of Seymour with yet another feature win under his belt.

#88 J.J. Flick led the charge of the Junior 2 class, with #5 Kyle Opelt making up row number one. Flick drove his black machine out to an early lead, and held it there for a period of time, as #21 Andrew Hock was looking to take over the frontrunner position. Hock, Opelt, and Flick put on a great show battling for the lead, with Hock taking home the checkers, Flick coming in second, and Opelt coming in third.

#25 Brian Page led the Stock Heavy class out with karting veteran #11 Jay Moore to his outside. Page jumped to an early lead, but Moore was hot on his tailpipe the entire race, but didn't quite have enough to get around Page, who took home the win, with Moore coming in second, and #22 Randy Schnabel coming in third.
