Clardy Kart Speedway brings high-banked dirt racing to Paris, Texas

    By Judy Smith
PARIS, TX - Clardy Kart Speedway is a new oval dirt track just south of Paris, Texas. This is a high bank, 1/8th-mile, teardrop shape track with approximately 12-degrees of banking. Our track has been open since late May of this year. We started out the year racing on Sunday afternoons and two weeks ago went to Friday nights. Night racing has completely changed the racing surface. During the day the track is dry slick and turns blue. At night it is a whole new ball gameŠit is super tacky! The gates open at 6pm and hot laps begin at 8pm. The word is beginning to get out that there is a track in this area. There are several other tracks in this area that have all closed this year. A lot of hard work has gone into making this a top-rate facility. The track is lighted for night racing along with lights in the pit area. There is also a concession stand and restrooms available. Sunoco race fuels are always available at the track. We have been averaging around twenty to twenty-five karts each week. With racers aging from six years on up. The track has attracted karts from the Metroplex area, Texarkana, Hooks, New Boston, Oklahoma and East Texas and the classes are growing steadily. Since this sport is new to this area there were not a lot of karts here to begin with. This new track has sparked a lot of interest and there are numerous people in the process of getting karts for their children and themselves in this area. All together there has been close to fifty karts come and race at our facility. We offer a wide range of classes including stock gas for the beginners up to open class for the adults.

Everyone who races in our Junior classes receives a trophy. We have not scheduled any big event races this season. We felt that we would try to get the hang of everything this year, and next year we will try to have several big-event races throughout the season. We have not had a chance to get a web site up yet, but do intend on doing so soon. For now we are posting updates and race information on www.whowon.com, www.easttexasracing.com, www.4cycle.com, www.texasracekarts.com, and www.theinsidetrack.com. Please check for posts on these website's forums. You can also call us for directions or information at (903) 785-5403 nights and weekends (903) 784-1247 days or E-mail us at dsraceteam@cox-internet.com. The owners of the new Clardy Kart Speedway are Doyle and Judy Smith.

Friday night July 26th was our second Friday night to race and we had a good turn out with exciting races.
