    Adam Carlson wins Road America

ELKHART LAKE, WI - Team ACR/Watercolor Group driver Adam Carlson won the inaugural oval race at the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex kart complex inside the famous Road America road course.

The Briggs & Stratton Motorplex was built last year and has a large sprint track with lots of turns and huge elevation changes. The first race on the sprint track was held last September. The oval is part of the sprint track and there is also a long paved area that can be used for one-eighth mile junior drag races. Briggs & Stratton and Road America spent over a million dollars building the multi-purpose karting complex. The International Racing Association held the first race on the slightly banked one-fifth mile oval, part of the Briggs & Stratton Motorsports Oval Championships held August 10th and 11th. Arriving early on Friday morning Adam was the very first kart to ever turn a lap on the new oval. Adam was able to take advantage of a full day of practice and testing on Friday trying out both of his Burris Circle Tour oval karts. His primary kart was fast but his backup kart proved to be faster so the decision was made to use the backup car for the race.

Being inside Road America's Turn Eight and the famous Carousel provided an exciting backdrop as race cars ran the four-mile track.

Adam was still fastest in the Saturday morning practice session and was able to try more changes to the setup for a thirty-lap feature race. Adam started on the pole and immediately held a big lead until a caution came out on lap five, on the restart Adam was still out in front with the second and third place karts swapping positions and in pursuit. Adam came upon two slower karts on the front straight, went outside of them then they "pushed out." Adam ran the far outside groove and the second place kart went low and briefly took the lead, once clear of the two back markers Adam dove low and retook the lead before the back straight then held onto the lead for the finish.
