Saukville, Wisconsin's Jamie Bach & B-K Motorsports Score SCCA Central Division Championship at Road America

ELKHART LAKE,WI (Sunday, July 28, 2002) - For the fifth time this season, Jamie Bach and the B-K Motorsports Formula Mazda started on the pole. And for the seventh time this season, Bach and B-K crossed under the checkered flag for a victory. This win, however, was just a little bit sweeter as Bach and B-K scored their second straight SCCA CENTRAL DIVISION NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. As was the case in 2001, Bach and his team will sit alone at the top of the standings as there are not enough races left in the season for any other competitors to share their championship. Bach clinches this title with four races left in the 2002 schedule.

Making his fifth appearance at Road America this season, Bach was the man to beat in Saturday qualifying under very warm and steamy conditions. At the end of the thirty-minute session, Bach sat on top of the FORMULA MAZDA field for Sunday's feature race. Qualifying times for this weekend's race were considerably slower than a few weeks ago when track records were falling left and right, but Bach was the class of the field.

At the drop of the green flag in Sunday's race, Bach got shuffled in some traffic and came across the line in the second spot after the first lap. A few laps later, however, Bach made a move on race leader Fabio Castellani heading into turn one and took the lead. Once he was out front, Bach never looked back and pulled away to a five second lead and the eventual victory. Bach won this event (His home region's...The Milwaukee Region...CAT National) in 2001 over Castellani as well.

The next race on the B-K Motorsports schedule will be next weekend at Gateway International Raceway in St. Louis, Missouri. It is also likely that Bach and B-K will then head north of the border to Mosport International Raceway in Ontario, Canada for the STAR MAZDA PRO-TV race in Mid-August.

"We did it! We came here with a pretty solid set of goals and we did what we had planned. We wanted to sit on the pole and we wanted to get back into the win column. And we obviously wanted the championship...which would come with a win. Road America has been pretty good to us this year. To clinch the championship here on our home track means a great deal to me and our team. We really appreciate all the support we have received from so many different people. We could not be finishing up front consistently without everyone lending a hand. We also hope that the next time we come to Road America (in 2003) we will be running in a professional series. We are working on some special plans in that direction. Now we can turn our focus on our next big goal of this season...the SCCA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS...The Valvoline RUNOFFS. We have a number of weekends on our schedule before that and we will be looking to learn all we can before heading back to Mid-Ohio the last weekend in August. Then it will be time to set our sites on doing our best at the RUNOFFS in September. We will give it out best shot, hoping to represent the Central Division and the Milwaukee Region well!"
