"WKA News"CONCORD, NC - The World Karting Association (WKA) website has been updated with pertinent information regarding the 2002 Briggs & Stratton Pro Kart Tour. This includes rules & regulations, contingency programs, purse payouts, sponsor information, and past winners. Go on-line now and make certain you're ready. 2002 is starting off well with record turnouts to Nationals events. The Horstman Gold Cup Series had a tremendous turnout at the I Performance Winter Nationals at Lowe's Motor Speedway in March of 425 entries. Had Mother Nature been more cooperative, that weekend would have been even a greater success. The George Kugler Manufacturer's Cup Series, presented by Bridgestone, also showed a record turnout for the Coello Racing Winter Nationals at Lowe's Motor Speedway with an impressive 575 entries. This marks the largest 2-Cycle Sprint race in twelve years, sixth largest in WKA history. The Bandit Racing Chassis Speedway Pavement Series, RLV Nationals, hosted at Orange County Raceway also set new heights with 610 entries. Again, Mother Nature was not very kind but with the turnout, we are certain the drivers will make it up the next time around. The Dunlop Tire Road Racing Series continued this impressive streak with another record turnout of 510 entries for round number two in the 2002 Series. Mother Nature once again tried to challenge but the racers won that battle with the help of Johnny Jacumin and Robby Harper's staff.
