    "Open PIR Practice session scheduled"

MOUNT LAKE TERRACE, WA - Drivers hoping to run the J&M Auto Body Shift Kart Challenge at Portland International Raceway will have the opportunity to run another practice session. The remaining open test day is April 12. The previous session was March 22.

"For last year's race, we had a number of drivers express concern that their only practice time was once they arrived at the track," said race promoter Paul Zalud. "With two test sessions available, we are going to give the racers as much practice as possible."

The practice organizers are pleased to be able to offer the practice to the drivers, as it will enhance the driver's on-track performance. Ever mindful that the primary job of the shifter karts is to provide the fans attending the CART GI Joe's Portland 200 with solid motorsports entertainment, Zalud feels the practice will improve the event.

For the second year, Zalud and Shift Kart are promoting a shifter exhibition race in conjunction with the CART Portland event. "We're very excited to be coming back. I know that the organizers were happy with how thing went last year and all the drivers who made the trip were very happy with the event," said Zalud.

With no conflicts with the ProMoto this year, Zalud hopes to have more of the factory teams involved with the event. With the opportunities to race in front of and talk to open wheel racing fans, the exposure potential to new karters is very good for teams with strong marketing programs.

Drivers wishing to take part in the practice sessions should contact Russ or Martha Dyer at 503-263-8909 or Don Homboe at 503-624-0621. Cost for the practice days is $50 per driver per day.

Anyone needing further information for the J&M Auto Body Shift Kart Challenge should contact Paul Zalud at 425-672-8806 or paul@shiftkart.com. More information on the event will be available soon at www.shiftkart.com.
