"Southern Burris Championships holds Awards Ceremony"
MARIETTA, GA - The inaugural year of the Southern Burris Championships came to a close February 16th at Dave and Busters in Marietta, Georgia. More than a hundred people came to watch as forty drivers claimed their awards. Prior to the awards ceremony everyone gathered in the Show Room of Dave and Busters and enjoyed a Mesquite BBQ Chicken, Corn on the Cob, Hickory Smoked Beans, Potato Salad and Fresh Baked Roles as they waited for the ceremony to begin. The ceremony got started with Faye Brindle welcoming everyone and introducing the Southern Burris Championship Staff. The floor was then turned over to Dan Hardy to start the awards ceremony. As the winners came up to receive their awards Mitch Carter and Faye Brindle loaded each driver up. The Champions each received a Southern Burris Series Championship Jacket, 20" tall Championship Eagle, 50% discount certificate for a new Lighting light Body kit and many other gifts.
Special Recognition was given to Matt Carter for being the series first Triple Crown Winner. Matt won Championships in Gold Plate, Junior Champ and Junior Stock. The Grizzle brother's Jordan and Jacab both won Champions in Purple and Blue plate respectfully. The father and son team of Randall and Randy Hill took home the Championships in Senior Stock and Super Heavy. The series also had two women win Championships with Dawn Gunter winning Amateur Stock and Sabrina Wofford winning Senior Champ. Sabrina was unable to attend as she was in the hospital giving birth to a new baby girl. Sabrina sent her good friend Merle Boling to receive her awards. Other Champions were Mark Silvers - Limited, Chip Brindle - Stock Medium, Whit Locker - Stock Heavy, and Mitchell Stanley - Stock Lite. There were drawings for over 60 door prices throughout the evening. All the drivers that attended the Banquet went home with a bag full of products.
