- I.R.A.'s SSC Pro Shifter Series
We look back at the International Racing Association's inaugural year of pro shifter kart racing with great action from the SSC Pro Shifter Series. Visiting tracks such as Putnam Park, Grattan and Gateway Int'l among others, the I.R.A.'s Pro Shifter program is sure to expand greatly in 2002.
- Mid-State Raceway
Mid-State Raceway in Springfield, Illinois releases it's 2002 race schedule and class structures. With the addition of a new scoring tower, pit area and new pavement and ever increasing attendance the 2002 season at Mid-State Raceway looks to be the best ever.
- "Stars of Tomorrow"
Team Rahal in conjunction with Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) and the North American Karting Association (NAKA) provided the four winners from the 2001 Stars of Tomorrow competition with the opportunity December 16th to test in one of the team's Ford-Cosworth/Lola Champ Cars.
- National Indoor Dirt Championships
For the past 10-years JAM Promotions have held this prestigious karting event at the Memphis, TN Thunderdome, but as the event grew a new and larger site was needed and found. Featured at the new facility were indoor pits with electric and running water to wash karts and showers for competitors.
- Gough Family Tradition
Seven year-old Derrick Gough is following in the footsteps of his father Jay, Uncle David and grandfather David Sr. by continuing the family racing tradition. Derrick had a successful rookie season in karts all over northern Illinois.
- 2002 Kart Expo
Organizers of the 2002 Kart Expo are seeking 'Vintage Karts' for display in St. Charles, Illinois during the 2002 Kart Expo. Comprising dealers, vendors, track owners, symposiums and more the 2002 Kart Expo is the Karting event of the off-season.
- U.S. 41 Speedway Champions
On Saturday, November 17, 2001 approximately 135 go-karting enthusiasts turned out for the eighth annual awards banquet hosted by U.S. 41 Sprint Speedway.
- SKI Awards
SKI Editor Rob Howden spotlights the hottest karters in the nation at the annual Super Karts Illustrated Awards Banquet. Scott Speed receives 'Driver of the Year', Leading Edge Motorsports receives 'Team of the Year' and much, much more.
- "Stars of Tomorrow"
2002 rules and race schedule is relesed by NAKA for the Stars of Tomorrow program. The third year of this development series will again be expanded to include six regional championships and three national championship races, all qualifying for invitations to the National Championship at the Las Vegas Karting Center in November of 2002.
- 2002 Kart Expo
The 2002 Kart Expo International will host the first-ever International 'clutch' symposium at this year's show at the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, Illinois.
- Bloxom Speedway
The 2nd Annual 100-Lapper was a great success in 2001 at Bloxom Speedway in Bloxom, Virginia. Stuart McCullough dominated the field as he led all 100 laps of the hard-fought battle.
- Deep Seat, Inc.
Charles Frearof Deep Seat, Inc. was granted a U.S. Patent on his new kart seat design.
- Horstman Products
Clutch manufacturer Horstman Products is under new ownership as Ron Linville takes over as president on December 7, 2001. Horstman Prodcts, based in California, has been on the market for over two years.
- Clingman Speedway
Cold weather, fast racing and hot action brought spectators and racers from all over the area to Clingman Speedway in Clingman, North Carolina on October 27, 2001 and November 3, 2001.
- Memo Gidley
Memo returns to Hawaii on January 5-6 to hold his 3rd annual karting clinic in Oahu at the Windward Mall.
- NAKA
North American Karting Association announces the launching of a government relations program to assist the karting industry monitor legislative activities.
